Several Caribbean Community (CARICOM) leaders are in Chile this weekend attending two summits that the Guyana-based CARICOM Secretariat said are aimed at strengthening and consolidating Latin America and Caribbean cooperation.
The leaders will attend the summit of the Community of Latin American and the Caribbean States (CELAC) and the First Summit of CELAC and the European Union (EU).
The January 26-28 CELAC-EU summit replaces the EU-Latin America and the Caribbean (EU-LAC) meetings.
The Secretariat said that the CELAC summit is expected to adopt the Santiago Action Plan among a raft of documents and statements on a number of regional and global issues.
