One Killed In Grenade Explosion In Guyanese Capital
(RTTNews) - A grenade explosion ripped through a busy market in Guyana's capital city of Georgetown, killing at least one person and injuring more than 15 others, according to local news reports.
The explosion reportedly occurred in Georgetown's busy Stabroek Market at about 10:30 am on Wednesday. Officials say at least nineteen people have been rushed to nearby hospitals to receive treatment for the injuries sustained in the blast.
Police have since cordoned off the area to gather evidence. They have also launched an investigation into the incident to determine whether the explosion was accidental or deliberate.
The only man killed in the incident was reportedly holding the grenade in his hand when it exploded. The dead man is yet to be identified. [...]
